215 North Canadian Distance Project

215 North is a web-based documentary project chronicling the life and training of select Canadian distance runners as they chase their dream of flying the Maple Leaf at the 2008 Olympic marathon in Beijing. Check back daily or subscribe to the 215 North RSS feed for news, race results, video updates and first-person athlete journals.

The following is from today’s posting:

…and, with one year to go until the Opening Ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, 215 North Canadian Distance Project has gone live.

Over the next 366 days we’ll be bringing you updates - blogs, photos, videos, race reports - from the roads leading a select group of Canadian marathon runners to places they have never been. Ultimately, it is their hope that those roads lead all the way to Beijing, to the realization of their Olympic dreams.

Along those roads, 215 North hopes to act as a catalyst for the development of youth programs geared towards increasing youth involvement in sport - harnessing the power of athletes to create positive change. The groundwork is already being laid; please stay tuned for updates as these programs evolve.

As we start to build momentum, the whole 215 North team - athletes and production crew alike - would like to thank you for visiting and for supporting grassroots Canadian athletics. Please take a moment to navigate through the site and send us your comments, checking back regularly for the latest from 215 North.
