Stanley Park’s Seawall set to open next Friday
From NEWS 1130
It’s good news for walkers, cyclists, and inline skaters. On November 16th, just in time for the bad winter weather, you can once again enjoy the seawall on Stanley Park. Vancouver Park Board Commissioner Alan Degenova said there are still plenty of trees to plant in the park after last year’s brutal storms tore the place apart. By this time next year the park board expects to have 20,000 more planted, and there’s still more work to be done.
“We have some work still up on that northwest sector on the top area for clean up and that, but that whole part of that ridge and up near Prospect Point Cafe are in pretty good shape now. Then we will start in the early spring for the realignment of the road.”
DeGenova said there are a few other things that can only be done in the springtime. He said by his calculations the work is on time and on budget for the most part. They had planned on opening this week but a couple of safety checks had to be done.
