Running 220 marathons in 12 months

Run For One Planet, a new blog recently added to our blogs list, is about a Vancouver couple who are hoping to run around North America and raise money for the Run For 1 Planet foundation - whose goal is to inspire one million people to commit to one new environmentally-friendly habit and to raise one million dollars to combat global warming.

They will be running from Vancouver to Newfoundland, down the eastern seaboard, then will head west, through the U.S. southwest and finally up the west coast from California and back home to Vancouver. The journey will begin with this May’s BMO Bank of Montreal Vancouver Marathon.

The pair has received some recent publicity of late, including this article in the Vancouver Province last week, and this article in the Naked Eye.

TRAINING SCHEDULE FOR WEEK 9

Sunday –
4:00: 26 km long slow distance (LSD) 10 min running/1 min walking; pace: 6:22-7:11.
4:30: 26 km long slow distance (LSD) 10 min running/1 min walking; pace: 7:08 - 8:00.

Monday — Off.

Tuesday –
4:00: 6 km tempo; pace: 5:44.
4:30: 6 km tempo; pace: 6:26.

Wednesday –
4:00: 7 km hills - 6 x 600m; pace: 5:44.
4:30: 7 km hills - 6 x 600m; pace: 6:26

Thursday –
4:00: 10 km steady run; pace: 6:22.
4:30: 8 km steady run; pace: 7:08.

Friday — Off.

Saturday –
4:00: 6 km steady run; pace: 6:22.
4:30: 6 km steady run; pace: 7:08.

Week Totals:
4:00: 55 km;
4:30: 53 km.
