2 North Vancouver trail running groups begin this week

You know spring is in the air when the local trail running scene begins to heat up. In fact two North Vancouver trail running groups are just beginning this week. Details below:

Mountain Madness spring trail clinics:

  • Saturday March 29, 8:30 a.m., meet at North Shore Athletics (NSA)
  • Friday alternative 9:30 a.m.
  • Goals: Tender Knee 12 km or Iron Knee 25 km on May 31.
  • Clinic registration: online or bring cheque - http://www.eventsonline.ca/events/mmt_clinic/
  • What you get: Saturday long run, trail booklet, clinic “gift”, Tues. night speed workout at NSA, experienced leaders, scenery, weekly emails, draw prizes, guest speakers, and nature.
  • Drop in is available.
  • Prerequisites: for Tender Knee, able to run 5 km on road. For Iron Knee, able to run 10 km on road.

Knee Knacker “Unofficial” Wednesday night training runs:

  • Once again this year, a number of runners will be getting together on Wednesday evenings to train on portions of the Baden-Powell trail. Bill Dagg has offered to be a contact person for anyone wishing to join him on these runs.
  • When: Wednesday April 2 - Wednesday July 2, 2008
  • Cost: free!
  • Meet: 5:15 p.m. - Cleveland Dam parking lot
  • Start run: 5:30 p.m.
  • Duration: 1.5 to 2.5 hours
