BCKC is a non-profit organization that services our community with flatwater canoe and kayak opportunities, in a safe and positive environment lead by nationally certified coaches. We are supported by a committed group of members who volunteer their time and energy to share our passion for paddling. BCKC is a member of the provincial sport organization Canoe Kayak BC and the national sport organization Canoe Kayak Canada.

Those of you who witnessed Canadian Adam van Koeverden win the gold medal in the 500m K1 race in the 2004 Athens Olympics will have observed that the top athletes make the sport look easy. In this sport the fastest boats are most often also the least stable. Since the objective in racing is to move from start to finish quicker than your fellow competitors, athletes work to develop their skills to master the tippiest of boats. BCKC has stable boats for new paddlers, high performance boats for the advanced athletes and a range of boats in between that allow paddlers to continue to challenge themselves as their skills develop.
