Orienteering in North Vancouver this Sunday

The following is courtesy of the Greater Vancouver Orienteering Club…

The Greater Vancouver Orienteering Club is hosting an Orienteering Event in the Lower Seymour Conservation Area around Rice Lake on Sunday May 11th. If you are a trail runner or an adventure racer this is a great opportunity to try something different. If you think you know the Rice lake area like your own backyard you could be surprised at where you find yourself!

We have three courses on offer:

Elite – Long – 6.5 km
Sport – Medium 3-4 km
Beginner – Short 2-3 km

Cost is $10.00 for members of GVOC and it is $5.00 to join.

Please note that the forest is very wet – every marsh had water in it and even the creeks were running. Participants on the Long course are very likely to get wet feet. Participants on the Medium course may also get wet feet. However if the daily temperatures stay high for the week some of this may have dried out. The forest is beautiful as it is greening up and the vegetation is not too thick yet.

Meet near the Gazebo at the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve
Registration from 9:30am to 10:30am
Start from 10:00am to 11:00am

See http://www.orienteeringbc.ca/gvoc/index.php?lookup=calendar&item=412 for more information. You can register on the webpage or email rlrennie@shaw.ca if you are interested. Please let us know by Friday so that we know how many maps to print.

This event is part of National Orienteering Week – A great time to try out the sport of orienteering!
