November 17 – 23: Bike to Work Week!
The Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition wants your help as a team leader to encourage your colleagues and workplace to experience the benefits of cycle commuting year-round. In fact, with the onset of winter weather cycling becomes an even more important part of a physically and mentally healthy lifestyle, as well as continuing to be a great choice for the environment!
SIGN UP NOW: www.vacc.bc.ca/biketowork
(NOTE: The first person who signs in from your workplace will become the team leader. And we also ask if team leaders can, to the best of their ability, keep their team roster current by removing those people who are no longer on their teams.)
We have online and in-person resources to help you rally your team, and create a bike-friendly workplace for year-round cycling!
Online:
-Momentum Magazine winter riding articles, all-weather cyclist profiles, gear reviews -VACC safe riding tips -Bike to Work November poster downloads (pdf) -Bike to Work Winter Tips (PDF)
In-person:
Winter Riding Workplace Workshops – 1 hour and 2 hour Winter Riding Workshops, tailored especially for the wet West Coast winters that we experience here in Metro Vancouver. Now is a great time to encourage your employer to offer these as a health and wellness or environmental initiative.
Please call (604)-878-8222 or email Jodi: jlpeters@vacc.bc.ca for more information or bookings.
So get everyone ready to log their commutes(you can start right now) on the Bike to Work website for a chance to win prizes. Check to see if see if there is a commuter station nearby your workplace, where the VACC will be on the streets during rush hour with hot coffee, tasty treats, draw prizes, bike mechanics and more.
Encourage your workplace to set up a winter Bike to Work commuter celebration at your workplace – just for your team, or with other companies in your building or neighbourhood. Provide hot drinks and treats for those that come to work with a bike helmet.
We can’t wait to see you out there, rain or shine, light or dark, biking to work!
Good luck!
