The BC Athletics 2009 5K Road Race Championship will be held in conjunction with the 25th Anniversary Legion Twilight Shuffle on the evening of Tuesday, June 16, 2009 in Chemainus, BC.

Race Information

A certified course, featuring a relatively flat route with some mild undulations. Event records are 15:09 (Dave Jackson) and 17:06 (Cheryl Murphy). Race starts at 7:00 pm. Complete race details on the event website:www.islandrunner.ca and www.pih.bc.ca.

Enter online at: www.eventsonline.ca or mail in the entry form to Island Runner, 1576 Fairfield Road, Victoria, BC, V8S 1G1.

Entry fee is $27.00 for BC Athletics athlete members until June 5, rising after that date.

Championship Eligibility

The Championship portion of the event is open to all Junior, Senior and Masters members of BC Athletics. 2009 BCA memberships must be received by June 13, 2009 in order to be eligible.

Awards

Championship Medals will be presented to:

• The first 3 BCA Junior members, men and women (aged 18 or 19 as of Dec 31/09).
• The first 3 BCA Senior members, men and women (aged 20 plus as of Dec 31/09).
• The first 3 BCA Masters members, men and women (aged 35 plus as of Jun 16/09).

Championship Ribbons will be presented to:

• The first 3 BCA Masters members, men and women in each of the following 8 Masters age categories:
  35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70+

High Performance Athletes

• Prize Money: $250/$150/$50 to the top-3 open men and women overall and $250/$150/$50 to the top-3 master (40+) men and women overall.
• Requests for complimentary entries for elite runners will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Consideration will be given to men who have run under 15:30 and women who have run under 17:30, as well as masters who have run 16:00 for men and 18:30 for women.
