============

4,000 cyclists will leave downtown Vancouver Saturday morning to begin their trek up tto Whistler in the inaugural RBC GranFondo cycling race. The race begins at 7am and will take riders west along Georgia Street and over the Lions Gate Bridge and up to the TransCanada Highway all the way through Squamish to Whistler.

A great article was written on the event in Friday’s Vancouver Sun. To read it click here.

If you’re a driver expect road closures along the route, especially if trying to cross into or out of Vancouver along the Lions Gate Brisge, which will be closed for two hours between 6am and 8am. Highway 99 between Vancouver and Whistler will remain open for the duration of the event.

For more information on the event (registration is unfortunately closed) visit www.rbcgranfondowhistler.com. We will post links to results as well as race reports Saturday as they become available.

Good luck everyone and we hope it doesn’t rain too much!
