The Q’s Victoria Track Series Offers Three New Distances 10,000m, 400m and 2000m Steeple

Victoria, BC – The Q’s Victoria Track Series is offering three new distances for all levels of runners from beginner to elite. There will be one opportunity to race the 10,000m elite and 2000m for open and elite categories as well as three opportunities for all levels to race the 400m sprint distance.

Also new for 2011: Four of the eight meets the make up the series will happen at the University of Victoria’s Centenntial Stadium, while the remaining four will take place at the Jack Wallace Memorial Track at Oak Bay High School located behind the Oak Bay Recreation Centre.

About the Q’s Victoria Track Series

The Q’s Victoria Track Series includes 8 track meets that take place starting Saturday, May 14th and runs through to Saturday, August 27, 2011. Each meet provides participants of all levels, from beginner to Olympian, the opportunity to compete within their own level, at all distances (10,000m elite is the only exception).

During the 2010 Q’s Victoria Track Series, 5 Canadian, age-group records were set, 4 by 80-year old Maurice Tarrant of Victoria, BC and 1 by 70-year old Herb Phillips of Vancouver, BC. There was 1 Alberta provincial age-group record set by a visiting Edmonton runner in the 45-49 age-group during a mile race.

The 2011 Q’s Victoria Track Series proceeds are directed towards the Mustard Seed Food Bank.
