Women Dominate the Men in the Q’s Victoria Track Series Meet #3

Victoria, BC – The Q’s Victoria Track Series third meet of 2011 saw just 4 races due to the popularity of the Vancouver Canucks Stanley Cup final game number 2. 2 of the 4 races were dominated by women. Outright wins were recorded in the 1500m distance by University of Victoria Vike, Riley McQueen and Jeanette Van Den Bulk in the 400m.

McQueen and 2nd place finisher, Maddy MacDonald are former teammates from the University of Calgary. MacDonald, arrived fresh from a stint of training in Las Vegas. They finished in 4:45.10 and 4:48.10 respectively. McQueen won the 1500m section with pacing help from 13:29, 5000m runner, Ryan McKenzie who earlier won the men’s elite 1500m in 4:05.90.

Jeanette Van Den Bulk led from the gun in the 400m meter distance. Her finish time was 59 seconds. This was considered an under-distance race for Van Den Bulk who moved up to the 800m for 2011 from the 400m. Van Den Bulk continues to improve and seek out a spot on the national team.
