Congratulations to Chris Bellamy, who was the first male over the finish line at Broken Goat 50k last weekend with a time of 5:35. The first woman, Kim Magnus, also from BC, was not far behind (and 3rd overall) with a time of 5:44.
Broken Goat 50km trail race is a challenging, point to point, high alpine race that is held at RED Mountain Resort in Rossland (near Nelson). The 50k course is remote and includes summitting 6 of the peaks along the Rossland Range for a total of 2450m ascent & 2850m descent. The course offers varying terrain, including ridges, scree, alpine single track and forestry roads.
If you’re looking for something a little shorter, the Broken Goat 25k is also a challenging point to point high alpine race along the infamous 7 Summits trail and finishing at the base of Red Mountain.
Broken Goat 12k is a vertical climb up the very steep Red Mountain Ski Hill and down to the finish on some of the finest single track Rossland has to offer.
Registration for the 2018 event will open on November 15th. Check the website for more info.
