An exciting finish at the Boston marathon yesterday for Kenyan, Lawrence Cherono, who edged past two-time winner, Lelisa Desisa, just a couple of steps before the finish line for a 2:07:59 finish. This was one of the closest finishes ever at Boston, with Lelisa finishing just one second behind in 2:08.00, and, in third place, Kenneth Kipkemoi finished in 2:08:06.
Ethiopia’s Worknesh Degefa, debuting in her first ever Boston and only her 4th marathon, won the women’s race with 2:23:30. Edna Kiplagat of Kenya came in 2nd with 2:24:14.
American Daniel Romanchuk won the men’s wheelchair race. At the age of 20, Daniel became the youngest ever push rim Boston winner , and was the first US winner of the event since 1993.
Manuela Schar of Switzerland won the women’s push rim wheelchair race.
